When we see an update on our smartphones, it can either be a major update that revamps and adds a lot of features to your smartphone, or it can be a very minor one that adds almost nothing except, at most, a security patch or minor improvements. The latter ones are really underappreciated, but they can improve our experience a lot or otherwise give us a more stable, or secure, experience. The Samsung Galaxy S24 has been around for roughly a month, but if you have one, you might soon start to spot one of these minor updates.
Samsung has announced a new update to One UI 6 for its latest Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup of smartphones, mostly geared towards polishing the experience in the newly-released devices. The update includes display customization options, such as the ability to adjust vividness for a more natural viewing experience. Additionally, camera enhancements elevate the Galaxy S24 series’ reputation for industry-leading photography, with optimizations to zoom, Portrait Mode, Nightography, video shooting, and more. Aside from that vividness slider, which you’ll be able to find under your display’s “Advanced settings” and will let you roughly tweak how “vivid” you want your display to be, this update is extremely minor.
The notable part of this update is that it’s directly based on user feedback and complaints—a number of S24 owners were complaining that the display actually looked a bit dull. If it looks dull to you, just crank up that slider.
There probably won’t be major system updates for the Galaxy S24 series for a while. The next wave of changes might come with a slight refresh to One UI 6, once it releases its next foldable smartphones (which will most likely be called the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6) in a few months. In the meantime, these smaller tweaks to address the initial wave of buyer complaints is definitely appreciated.
In the meantime, if you want to check this update out, make sure to download it to your phone once it rolls out—it can take a few weeks.
